- In the episode "The Abduction of P-Chan", after Ranma turns into a girl for skating lessons, and likewise gets Ryoga out of the way by turning him into P-can, one of the two boys who were stunned by their transformations thereafter resembles Ataru while they try to trigger a transformation themselves.

- In episodes 792 and 793 of the anime, a suspect named Rum is used to make references to Urusei Yatsura, with Ai Haibara even adding the word "-datcha" to her sentences in reference to Lum's iconic saying, and Lum herself even makes a cameo appearance.
- Episode 1011 features several references to Urusei Yatsura.
- The character of Yamamura is voiced by Toshio Furukawa and Rumi is voiced by Fumi Hirano, Ataru and Lum's original voice actors.
- Gosho Aoyama the author claims to have even named Rumi after Rumiko Takahashi.
- The 6th Detective Conan film The Phantom of Baker Street featured a police officer by the name of Toshio Moroboshi who was named after both Ataru and his voice actor Toshio Furukawa.
