Without Even Saying Goodbye (さよならを言う気もない, "Sayonara o iu ki mo nai"?), also known as "Just the Two of Us" in the first Viz translation, is the 20th chapter of the Urusei Yatsura manga.

Plot Overview[]
On their way home from school, despite Shinobu's warnings, Ataru decides to try a homemade candy Lum gave him that morning. To his horror, it is wickedly spicy, and desperate for relief, he steals and devours some sweet bean buns that Cherry was holding. Cherry protests that the buns were part of a ritual to attempt to seal away the world's evil. Alien candy and magic-soaked cakes triggers a strange reaction, splitting Ataru into two versions of himself; a super-serious, stoic and disciplined Ataru, and a laidback party animal. Naturally, Shinobu prefers the former Ataru, who has eyes only for her, whilst Lum prefers the latter, who is likewise infatuated with her. Ataru's parents, however, decide to force Cherry to re-merge the two Atarus. But due to the meddling of Lum and Shinobu, this process goes wrong, and they instead end up with two Atarus with the personality of the original. It's suggested that one goes back to Oniboshi with Lum and the other stay, and the two start fighting over who must leave.
