Summary[]

Plot Overview[]

At Oyuki's direction, the group pilot Ran's ship into the dark side of the mood, triggering a dimensional warp to the World of Darkness. Unfortunately, they collide with another ship, crash at the spaceport, and are captured, something Rupa is quick to gloat about to Lum, who was initially emboldened to try a breakout when the ship's approach first reached her. Unfortunately for Rupa, Ataru was hurled to safety by the impact and avoided capture. He scrambles ashore at a lake to find himself being held at gunpoint by a Darkworlder woman, who demands he sign a fake marriage license. She's intent on foiling Rupa's marriage, and she needs a fake husband as part of her plan. Meanwhile, Lum has been forced into a wedding dress, but is still intent on fighting, despite having no powers. Upa uses a copyshroom to create a docile clone of Lum, who can be switched out for the ceremony. Meanwhile, Ataru and his new "ally" arrive, though Ataru is alarmed when she vows to kill everyone involved in the marriage, especially the bride.

Trivia[]

  • This chapter introduces Rupa's would-be girlfriend Carla, whom Viz Media strangely chose to give the romanji-inspired named "Karula" in its English translation.
  • Whilst Rupa's flying saucer from Chapter 358 looks like a conventional flying saucer that is being overgrown with different types of fungus, Carla's flying saucer is instead designed to resemble a flying mushroom cap of the iconic flattened disc or "toadstool" variety".
  • When confronted by Rupa during her attempted breakout, Lum uses Ten as a flamethrower by pointing him at Rupa and hitting Ten on the head. This is a tactic previously only seen used by Ataru.
  • Whilst subduing Lum, one of Rupa's soldiers refers to him as their world's "number one piggionaire", a portmanteau of "pig" and "legionnaire".
  • This is the first chapter in which Rupa's great-grandfather, Upa, is referred to by name,
  • In Viz Media's English translation, Upa's name is misspelled as 'Uba' for some reason. Possibly to make it sound more distinct compared to his great-grandson's name.
