Plot[]
- a
Arriving at the beach, Lum, Shinobu, Ataru, and Mendō learn that due to its extreme waves, swimming is impossible. To make matters worse, the beach shops were also closed, and before Ataru could vent his frustrations, he was cut off by two people. Sequentially, an abrasive argument starts between them, and Ataru's group stops them before they continue.
At that their beachside cafe, it's revealed they own a beach cafe owned by their family for three generations. However, the soon-to-be fourth-generation owner, Ryūnosuke, the son of the third-generation owner, his father, refuses to uphold the family tradition.
Lum then asks Ryūnosuke's Father why he and his son were cursing the beach earlier. Ryūnosuke's Father reveals that their cafe is hinged on the ocean; however, due to its turbulent waves make doing any business impossible. Ryūnosuke scoffs at his father's hot-headed nature toward the ocean and vows to find a different opportunity for himself, prompting his father to lose his cool. Before Ryūnosuke's Father can reprimand his son, Shinobu stops him and tries to mediate the situation. On the other hand, Ryūnosuke reveals that he's sick and tired of running the cafe, noting it's run year-round, including the harsh winters.
This revelation makes Ataru and Mendō leave the cafe, despite Lum and Shinobu's hesitance. As they leave, another fight breaks out between Ryūnosuke and his father, where Ryūnosuke blatantly admits he's a woman. This revelation causes Ataru and Mendō to change their tune and want to help out Ryūnosuke and his father. However, Ryūnosuke knocks the two out for touching her and conveys her envy to Lum and Shinobu.
Just then, Ryūnosuke's Father tosses Ryūnosuke toward the beach, and Ataru tries to rescue her, but instead, his face is used to break her fall, and was sequentially knocked flying for embracing her. Ryūnosuke's Father claims that just as the ocean was raging, Ryūnosuke too must replicate that as it's the only way to survive in their line of business. In her rebuttal, Ryūnosuke sends her father flying with a punch while proclaiming she's a woman.
A unanimous decision is made between Ataru's group to leave the beach, but Ryūnosuke's Father begs them to stay.
They're ultimately convinced to stay after Ryūnosuke's Father bribes them with food so they can convince Ryūnosuke to follow the family tradition. Again, Ryūnosuke scoffs at the idea of making his father and knock each other out. Observing the situation as it unfolded, Ataru's group decides what'd be best to handle the tense situation between the family cafe owners.
Once Ryūnosuke and his father wake up, they realize they've been chained to the cafe posts and are forced to settle their differences through words, not violence. However, both father and daughter's rage causes the cafe to collapse and continue their rowdy scuffle between them, making Ataru's group give up again and leave.
- b
Ryūnosuke's Father pulls a wagon carrying items from his cafe with Ryūnosuke riding in the back. Complaining that the wagon feels heavy, Ryūnosuke's Father asks if Ryūnosuke was pushing from the back, and she claims she was and that her father was merely becoming decrepit. Upset by his daughter's rude comment, Ryūnosuke's Father drops the wagon, causing its contents to fall to the ground, including Ryūnosuke.
While the duo began to scuffle, Lum and Ataru then approached the two. Noticing the two, Ryūnosuke's Father greets them as Ryūnosuke tosses things at his father's head. Ryūnosuke's Father explains that since his cafe got ruined, they found a live-in job to run a school supply store.
The school was Tomobiki High School, and Ryūnosuke's Father told Ryūnosuke that she'd be a student there. Furthermore, if she managed to beat him, Ryūnosuke's Father promised her that he'd let her wear a sailor uniform. A crowd starts to form around the father and daughter, and Onsen intervenes, but is knocked out by Ryūnosuke.
As their fight began, Ataru intervened by hugging Ryūnosuke, allowing her father to win their match.
Afterward, in Class 2-4, Onsen formally introduces Ryūnosuke (dressed in male clothing) to everyone in the classroom. The girls in the class fawn over Ryūnosuke despite being a woman herself, and Kōsuke notes that Mendō's reign as class hottie has been dethroned, which Mendō notes is concerning.
Later in the school gymnasium storage closet, Mendō, Ataru, Kōsuke, and Hokuto discuss how to approach their predicament concerning Ryūnosuke. Ataru chimes in and claims that they should figure out a way for Ryūnosuke to wear a sailor uniform, and Mendō likes it.
Eventually, the group approach Ryūnosuke's Father, and after beating him up, they flee the scene with his sailor uniform in hand. However, when Ryūnosuke gets it, she refuses to wear it, vowing to wear one after she defeats her father.
Noting that she was missing something, Ryūnosuke watched as Ran entered the classroom and interacted with Lum and Ataru. Interested in Ran because she resembled the school girls who inspired her love for sailor uniforms, Ryūnosuke asks Lum about Ran and would later have a letter sent to her. Initially, Ran figured thought it was another cheezy love letter, but when it's learned that Ryūnosuke was from Lum's class, Ran meets with Lum and tries to stir up trouble with her surrounding Ryūnosuke. Ran's plan, however, fails due to Lum detailing that Ryūnosuke is a man, but Ran refuses its validity. She then meets with Ryūnosuke and sets up a date with her after school, which Ataru plans to foil.
After school, Ryūnosuke waits for Ran by the school gate, hoping to learn how to look good in a sailor uniform so that she can become more feminine. Ran soon arrives, and Ryūnosuke immediately asks about secrets concerning women, which shocks Ran, and he figures Ryūnosuke is a super pervert.
At a cafe, Ran and Ryūnosuke enjoy parfaits which Ryūnosuke was astonished by and observed Ran as she eats hers. From behind, Ataru plays peekaboo with Ryūnosuke, which causes her to KO Ataru. Lum, who was also there, was asked into the girl's room by Ran, who demanded to know why she was there, and Lum confessed she merely followed Ataru. Ran interprets Lum being their as being jealous of Ryūnosuke fawning over her, which Lum internally denies.
Afterward, Ryūnosuke and Ran go boating, and Ataru crashes into their boat when the two are shown becoming intimate. Watching as Lum gets reprimanded by Ran, Ryūnosuke notes how there's a lot to being a woman and vows to one day wear a sailor uniform.
