Trivia

  • This is the last episode in the original format, being two 11-minute segments in a episode. From the next one on, it is full-length stories.
    • Perhaps due to poor timing coming on the heels of two segments that are closest to the manga.
    • Despite this, episodes could still be adapted into two chapters with the first one in the first half and the other in the second half, being stitched together. The first episode to do this was Episode 23, and the last episode was Episode 187.
  • Ataru tastes Lum's spicy flavor for the first time in the first segment.
  • The second segment is the first time Mendō tries to kill Ataru with his sword.
  • Mujaki from the second segment would return in the second movie Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer.

Differences from the Manga

Ten doesn't appear in the manga versions of both segments as he wasn't introduced yet, though both segments are exactly the same without him. Otherwise, the first segment is generally identical with no other difference, the second segment though:

  • The storytelling is different (there are random scenery changes between panels in the manga while the anime keeps the same background, for example, and the Mah Jongg sequence is a bit more disjointed).
  • The joke of Mendō not being able to draw his sword is original to the anime.
