Trivia[]
- Ranma 1/2 and Kyoukai no Rinne (both manga series created by Rumiko Takahashi) would also have a story surrounding watermelons. The story in this one is in the first half.
- An insert song Margarita is featured in the second half. It would later on be in use again as the musical number for Episode 42.
Differences from the Manga[]
This episode is two stories from the manga stitched together into one full-length episode. Like Episode 23, the differences will be split into two parts.
Part 1
- Mendō doesn't appear.
- Ataru doesn’t join in at the end (it’s a more standard final-panel tableau).
Part 2
- The goblin more explicitly identifies itself as a “sentiment demon” and is clearly egging everyone on, rather than just joining in.
- One of Mendō’s bodyguards hits on Sakura rather than Mendō, and the phrasing is a bit clearer.
- He asks if she has a boyfriend and she says yes, while the phrasing in the anime could mean that he’s the object of her affection, unless it’s an idiomatic phrase that doesn’t translate well.
- Moreover, Mendō should already know about Tsubame Ozuno being Sakura's lover from Episode 34, which takes place after the this half in the manga version.
