Lum and Ataru – A Night only for Two (ラムとあたる・二人だけの夜, Ramu to Ataru - Futari Dake no Yoru) is the 89th episode of Urusei Yatsura.

Summary[]

Ataru's parents win a trip for the weekend, leaving Lum and Ataru in the house together. Ataru dreads the prospect of a Lum-cooked dinner, while Mendo, Lum's Stormtroopers and Ten try to keep the two apart.

Plot Overview[]

Cast[]

Trivia[]

  • Uchuu wa Taihen da! and instrumental versions of Lum no Love Song and Kokorobosoi na are played.
  • Mendō and Lum's Stormtroopers imagine themselves as characters from the 1983 film, Return of the Jedi.
  • This is the first episode in which Ataru uses the Shinken Shirahadori manuever to catch Mendō's Katana, Ataru using this defense would become a reoccuring gag throughout the latter half of the series.

Differences from the Manga[]

  • The story starts with Ataru being told about the trip, goes to the scenes at and outside the school, and straight to Lum cooking and using the thing on Ataru’s back to pull him out of the cafe, with none of the business with Mendō and his No 23 minion.
  • Things more or less proceed the same way from there, though the ones interfering with Lum's hope of being alone with Ataru are regular male students including Kōsuke Shirai with the Stormtroopers taking their place in the anime, and the Jedi outburst scene is original.
