Plot[]

a

Onsen is left by the big cat sitting with the school principal at his kotatsu enjoying tea. However, he asks the principal why he requested to see him, and the principal informs him of a new transfer student in his class. Before the principal could finish, the room started to shake, and when it stopped, Lum entered the room and apologized for being late. She's then joined by her father, who was the cause of the shaking. The two then take a seat parallel to the principal and Onsen, who admit to his inadequacy in teaching an alien girl. On the other hand, Lum's Father brushes the comment off and claims his daughter is a genius and will pose no problem in her class.

Later, Onsen formally announces Lum as a transfer student to his classroom, which causes Ataru to choke on his piece of fried chicken.

Afterward, the 2nd year's Recreation Day begins, and Ataru is notably upset by Lum's appearance, but is delighted to hear that the class next door has its own beautiful transfer student. Without hesitation, Ataru introduces himself to the girl and learns her name is Ran from one of her friends. Immediately, Lum shocks and pulls Ataru away, but was alerted by Ran's name and secretly asks for her to meet her behind the school later. Ran does, and it's revealed that she's an old friend of Lum. Their conversation starts out pleasant, but takes a nasty turn when Ran mentions that Lum stole her love interest Rei from her. This causes Ran to reveal her disdain and frustration for Lum and her plan to enact revenge against her former best friend by sucking the life force out of Ataru with her kiss. When her friends call her, Ran leaves with them, but not before blackmailing Lum into keeping her secret as an alien from the other students.

On the track field, the first event, a scavenger hunt begins, and Ran requests Ataru's help. Despite Lum trying to intervene, she's pulled away by Mendō as the scavenger item he needs is an electrifying beauty. Led behind the school, Ran asks Ataru to kiss her there, and he's all too pleased to comply, but Lum intervenes, much to Ran's dismay. The next event was a Calvery Battle, and Lum paired with Ataru, Kōsuke, and Hokuto. Predictably, Ataru charges toward Ran, hoping to kiss her, but is first stopped by her teammates, and then Lum who forces Kōsuke to take the deadly kiss. Once his life force was drained, Kōsuke began to act like an old man.

After school by the river bank, Lum demands that Ran stop going after Ataru, but Ran switches the conversation to about the constellation of stars. A brief flashback shows the two as children making a wish on a shooting star and revealing to each other they had the same wish, for the world's best husband. The memory triggers Ran's fury as she recalls how Lum always got whatever she wanted and that Rei always fancied her more. Enraged again, Ran vows to steal Ataru from Lum again.

b

Lum receives a letter from Ran to meet her behind the school during their lunch break. There, a small robot version of Ran informs Lum that the real Ran will be returning home, but before that will be holding a going away party to which she and Ataru are invited. However, it's asked that Lum not reveal to Ataru that she's leaving. Once the message was over, the small Ran robot self-destructs.

After school, Ataru, accompanied by Lum, visit Ran's "UFO" shaped house and, upon their arrival, are cordially greeted by Ran. Inside Ran's home, Ataru gives Ran a bouquet of roses, and she offers them some cookies, which Lum was afraid her laced with something. Before Lum can try a cookie, a kitchen timer goes off, signaling Ran's cake is done, so she leaves to fetch it. During that time, Lum feeds the cookie to an animate vase that falls asleep moments after it eats it.

Returning to the room with her freshly baked cake, Ran was upset that Lum fed her laced cookies to the animate vase. Lum then heads into the kitchen to wash her and Ataru's dishes; however, it is a pretense to see if Ran will make a move on Ataru. Contrarily, Ataru asks Ran to kiss him, but she respectfully declines. When Ran joins Lum in the kitchen, Lum asks what is baking in the oven, but Ran claims it was a surprise. Returning to the room, Lum discovers that Ataru was gone, and he was wandering around Ran's house. Back to Ran, she pulls a clone of Ataru with a ' floating by his head out of the oven. Suddenly, Lum appears, causing Ran to shove Ataru's clone into the hallway where it briefly interacts with the real Ataru, and has his ' taken from him. The real Ataru, now with the ', is then pulled into the kitchen by Ran and forcefully escorted out of the house by Lum as Ran sucks the life force out of the clone.

At Ataru's home, Lum ponders if Ran has returned home yet, but the following day discovers that Ran didn't leave and is still out for revenge against her.
