290 "When You Wish Upon A Star"
(星に願いを, "Hoshi ni negai o")
Chapter 290
It's Tanabata, and the Moroboshi household are about to eat dinner when a star crashes through their roof and tells them that they have won three wishes. Mr. and Mrs. Moroboshi are skeptical at first, until it uses one of their three wishes to fix all the damage. Realizing it's for real, everybody starts arguing over what to use the remaining two wishes for. It only gets worse when Cherry shows up and steals one of the wishes to get himself a bowl of yakisoba. With just one wish left, the arguing and bickering gets worse, until, informed that the star must leave at dawn wishes or no wishes, they reluctantly agree to hold an amida lottery. Mr. Moroboshi wins, only to find that the star has drunk itself into a stupor whilst they were quarreling. Cherry promptly wastes the last wish to wake the star up and it leaves, with the Moroboshi having achieved nothing.
291 "A Promised Kiss"
(口づけ♥速達小包, "Kuchizuke ♥ sokutatsu kozutsumi")
Chapter 291
An alien courier suddenly arrives for Lum at Class 2-4 and delivers a package from somebody named Pikumo. Inside is a talking frog that begs Lum for a kiss. She goes to throw it out the window, but then remembers that Pikumo was a friend of hers from when she was a little girl. Back then, he fell afoul of the curse game and needed her curse to be changed back from a frog. He apologizes, and explains that three days ago, he bumped into an old friend, they got drunk, and they played the curse game, which he lost. His request makes Mendo incredibly jealous, especially once he sees photos that prove Pikumo is actually very good looking. This encourages Lum to try and use Pikumo to make Ataru jealous, which does initially seem to work... but then Ataru declares that if Lum can kiss some guy, he should get to kiss some girl. Lum naturally finds fault with that logic. After some bickering, and realizing that Ataru really is jealous after all, she kisses Pikumo, who thanks her and then flies away.
292 "The Sibling Battle of Love - Part 1"
(兄弟★愛の戦い;前編, "Kyodai ★ ai no tatakai; zenpen")
Chapter 292
It's breakfast time at the Mizunokoji estate, and Tobimaro is full of anxiety, as he can see how his sister Asuka's innocently romantic behavior is driving his mother apoplectic. When Asuka licks a grain of rice from Tobimaro's cheek, that's the last straw. Mrs. Mizunokoji goes to Class 2-4 and begs Lum to help; her plan is to have Tobimaro fight a duel against Asuka, and she believes that Lum's technology can give him the advantage. As Lum sits Tobimaro up in a set of power armor, Mrs. Mizunokoji lays down the stakes for Asuka. Initial tests prove Tobimaro can't even move in the armor unless Lum remote controls it, but the suit does seem strong enough to do the job. Unfortunately, Lum left a key piece out so it overheats and explodes. That evening, Ataru suggests that they weaken Asuka, and once Mrs. Mizunokoji takes him hostage, Lum agrees to use some of her alien botany to both boost Tobimaro's strength and impede Asuka's movement. A good plan, with one key flaw; both plants are powered by sunlight, and the day of the duel is overcast with promise of rain...
293 "The Sibling Battle of Love - Part 2"
(兄弟★愛の戦い;後編, "Kyodai ★ ai no tatakai; koupen")
Chapter 293
Asuka and Tobimaro face off, their "relationship" on the line in their duel. When the sun comes out, Tobimaro becomes strong enough to match his sister, who is hindered by sticky, clinging vines, but when the sun goes away, they revert to their usual power dynamic. The result is a chaotic melee as the balance of power shifts back and forth, with the intervention of Ataru and Lum only making things worse. Finally, at a key moment, Asuka manages to overcome her brother, but her mother refuses to concede defeat; she will break Asuka of her incestuous infatuation!
294 "Raging Pool"
(怒りのプール, "Ikari no puru")
Chapter 294
Mendo invites his classmates from Class 2-4 to check out his newest beachfront pool, one filled with water piped directly from the Sea of Japan whilst the pool itself is situated on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Their usual antics are interrupted by a very unexpected visitor; a giant and extremely angry squid, which attacks Mendo ferociously. It turns out that Mendo's fancy pipeline has sucked the squid's little babies up, but fortunately for Mendo, the squid and its children are reunited, calming its rage. However, they show no inclination to leave the pool.
295 "Slippery Soap"
(つるつるソープ, "Tsurutsuru sopu")
Chapter 295
um tries her hand at soap making, though she pays only half attention to the instructions on the television, before she goes to meet Ataru, Sakura and Kotatsu Neko for a game of mixed doubles tennis. After the game, she and Sakura go for a shower, but she accidentally squirts her soap into Sakura's stall. Sakura unwittingly gives Lum back the wrong bar of soap, and by the time she's figured it out, she's lathered herself up. As they soon get a hands-on demonstration, this now makes Sakura super slippery; a simple hug launches her flying into the air like a squeezed bar of wet soap. Sakura tries to ignore this and goes for a date with Tsubame, who is feeling rather insecure about their relationship. Her super-slick skin causing his hand to slide off whenever he touches her, and a jealous Ataru almost literally whispering doubts into his ear, doesn't help matters. Sakura tries to straighten him out that it's just Lum's soap preventing them from touching, but Tsubame is too caught up in his melodramas to listen - especially when he hugs her and launches her into a tree without realizing it. Trying to be helpful, Lum sprays Sakura with bird lime and then pushes her into Tsubame, sticking them both together in a way they didn't intend.
296 "The Summer of Hamachaya"
(浜茶屋の夏, "Hamachaya no natsu")
Chapter 296
Ataru, Lum, Shinobu and Mendo head to the beach, following an invitation to see the new version of the Hamachaya. They find a decrepit wreck, with only Mr. Fujinami present. He claims that Ryunosuke has suddenly turned into a delinquent, only for his daughter to arrive and beat him up. She explains to her friends that she has given up on working for her father and is trying to go it solo as a beach cafe operative. She shows off that she's doing well, until her father arrives to pick a fight. The two get into a fanciful beach vendor's duel, putting on amazing feats of simultaneous acrobatics and cooking that have an appreciative audience throwing them yen. This ends their brief reconciliation when Ryunosuke's father tries to steal the money for himself. They are suddenly interrupted by various other vendors, who take all the money to begin paying off the sizable debts that Ryunosuke's father has allowed to build up over his incompetency as the Hamachaya's manager.
297 "The Toll of the Wind Chime"
(風鈴樹の音色, "Furinju no neiro")
Chapter 297
During a visit to Neptune, Lum's visitation with Oyuki is interrupted by a merchant come to buy some of Neptune's bell fruits, which resemble Japanese wind chimes. She is enchanted by their appearance, and Oyuki gives her fruit-bearing branch as a souvenir. She arrives home to find the Moroboshis suffering through a summer heatwave, being too poor to afford air conditioning. Wanting to be helpful, she hangs her bell fruit in the nearby window, and they discover it emits a surge of chill air when disturbed. It also is still alive enough to multiply, and soon they can hang bell fruits all over, creating a lovely air conditioned environment. But the bell fruits start to multiply out of control, growing into the framework of the house and turning its interior into a frozen icebox. Desperate for help, Lum calls Oyuki, who soon arrives with more bell fruit merchants who eagerly harvest the fruits and then leave. Noting that the fruits seem to grow better on Earth than on Neptune, she asks if the Moroboshis would consider raising bell fruits for her, and they agree if she'll give them 60% of the proceeds.

(涙の家庭訪問, "Namida no katei homon")
Chapter 298
As a school day ends, Onsen Mark announces he will be making home visits to Class 2-4. Although the Principal and Sakura both try to talk him out of it, he goes, and it proves an unmitigated disaster. He gets beaten up by the Fujinamis, intimidated and then beaten up by Mendo's family goon squad, beaten up by a paranoid Shinobu, and finally collapses in the Moroboshi household's genkan and is left to rot there. When he recovers his strength, he drags himself home, only to be abducted by a well-meaning Lum, who takes him to visit her parents. They greet him warmly and shower him with food and drink, the most flat-out hospitable family he's seen yet. In fact, Lum's father takes such a shine to Onsen Mark as a drinking partner that he won't let him leave, causing him to miss school the next day.

He explains that he took shelter from a storm inside this puddle the last night, and the wind snatched away his magical umbrella, which he begs Ten to find. The infant Oni goes in search, only to find it in the clutches of Torajima. He gets it back from the cat, but the wind blows it away from him and into Lum's grasp. Before Ten can get it back from her, she gives it to a nestful of bird chicks, whose mother beats Ten up when he tries to take it back. He steals some of the washing line to get it back, which attracts Ataru's attention, and soon the two boys are fighting over it. Through a mixture of luck and Lum's intervention, Ten takes the umbrella back to the fairy, who assures Ten he will find his dream at the end of a rainbow he conjures. Ten eagerly follows it, but finds his reward is just a jumble of random things from a nightmare he had the previous evening.
